Your Skin Condition's Solved!

Acne

Blemish/Oily Skin Serum

The best way to reduce oil and/or bacterial overgrowth is to target oil glands with ingredients that do not traumatize the skin. Remember, Glycolic and other acids damage, over-exfoliate and dehydrate the skin resulting in more oil production. Trauma (inflammation) stimulates oil so other artificial ingredients like Benzoyl Peroxide work against your skin and ultimately result in rebound acne.

CLARIFY: Clears acne, normalizes oil, shrinks pores, increases skin’s immune support, remodels scarring, hydrates, calms inflammation, protects skin from UV rays, restores epidermal barrier, restores dermal thickness...one serum.

Aging

Aging/Normal Skin Serum

Everyone has had some level of sun damage over their lifetime and skin health restoration is critical for the prevention of aging both in younger individuals as well as more damaged skin types. To accomplish this, two things must be stimulated; fibroblast activity and blood flow to the skin.

RENEW: Restores dermal thickness, remodels scarring from photodamage, increases skin’s nutrient and immune support, protects skin from UV rays, restores the epidermal barrier, hydrates, normalizes oil, clears acne, reduces fine lines, shrinks pore size...one serum.

Hyper-pigmentation

Fading/Pigmented Skin Serum

The skincare world is filled with products for this condition that simply do not work. Usually this is due to one of three factors. One, the companies use one or two active ingredients at percentages that just do not get it done; two, the companies use ingredients that test well in labs, but in the skin, have much less effect (like Kojic Acid); or three, the companies ingredients are inflammatory resulting in a rebound effect that negates any lightening effects.

ENLIGHTEN: Dramatically lightens the skin, has nine liposome-coated tyrosinase inhibitors, remodels scar tissue, restores barrier health, calms inflammation, remodels scarring from photodamage, restores dermal thickness, hydrates, protects against UV rays...one serum.

Rosacea Rosacea/Sensitive Skin Serum (black color)

Most people think of Rosacea and Sensitive skin as conditions that require non-active products because of their tendency to over-react. The important distinction is that these skin types need non-irritating, active ingredients to remodel their damaged skin in a way that promotes healing.

CALM: Dramatically lightens the skin, has nine liposome-coated tyrosinase inhibitors, remodels scar tissue, restores barrier health, calms inflammation, remodels scarring from photodamage, restores dermal thickness, hydrates, protects against UV rays...one serum.

Health warning of formaldehyde in hair smoothing products

Clients show where hair loss after using a hair smoothing product that contained formaldehyde.

Health Canada issued a warning Friday about hair smoothing products that have high levels of formaldehyde—a chemical that is known to be an irritant and is linked to cancer with repeated exposure.

Formaldehyde is permitted as a preservative in cosmetics at levels of no more than 0.2 per cent – but some of the hair smoothing products tested by Health Canada contain much higher levels of the chemical.

Burning eyes, nose, and throat, breathing difficulties, and one case of hair loss associated with use of professional hair straightening products, according to Health Canada officials.

Officials warned that the reactions are being caused by formaldehyde becoming aerosolized during the blow drying and flat ironing stages of the treatment, saying clients and stylists could be at risk.

Consumers who are experiencing adverse reactions to these professional hair smoothing solutions are advised to seek medical attention, officials said. Consumers who have used this product and not experienced any reactions likely have no cause for concern.

Stylists who use these professional hair smoothing solutions should immediately stop using the affected product.

Tips for the Best Hair Do

For most ladies, year round, there is always an occasion calling for an up do. Events could include weddings, holiday parties, or any of Austin's endless parade of fashion soirées. Here are a few tips from Keep Austin Gorgeous.

Short hair or shoulder length, We can create magic with any length. Also, the use of temporary clip-in extensions can be a great add on and they are reusable for any night on the town. We carry a wide selection of human hair clip-ins and all types of different colors to mach everyone.`

Prior to the appointment, Shower the night before and add lots of antigravity for hold and dimension. Give yourself a great blow out, this is especially important for curly and frizzy hair. However, DO NOT use a flat iron before getting a up do. That can make it hard to hold curl and stay pinned in place. Please leave the flat ironing to your stylist on the day of the event.

The night before your appointment, make sure not to over condition or apply a mask to your tresses. This can result in hair that is too soft and weighed down. We recommend Antigravity by Kevin.Murphy, everyone loves it and its not greasy. It just adds the right amount of volume and hold.

Another great rule is to arrive to your appointment early and with DRY hair. This allows time to look thru magazines and have a proper consultation.

Last but not least, the weeks prior to your appointment are crucial. Freshly highlighted and colored hair is a must. New growth (dark roots) can show up dramatically in an up do and can sometimes be even more emphasized by certain cameras and show up exaggerated in pictures. Going an extra shade lighter or maybe some soft highlights can help your hair to look perfect and camera ready. Having the ends of your hair trimmed neatly also keeps the finished product smooth and impeccable.

PS. Don’t forget to wear a button down shirt to your appointment on the day of the event so you can change without messing up your masterpiece.

Triple Chocolate Sugar Scrub

The outermost layer of skin, the epidermis, accumulates dead skin cells that
need to be removed. Normal bathing does not provide the exfoliation that is
needed for the healthiest skin.

The antioxidants in chocolate scrubs help to prevent the signs of aging skin. Use at least weekly to keep your skin healthy.

Triple Chocolate Sugar Scrub

A unique facial experience including a triple chocolate sugar scrub, apple spice mask and peppermint essential oils. Followed by a born again hair and scalp treatment, your hair will be shampooed and conditioned leaving it soft, silky and healthy. You’ll leave refreshed and glowing! $98. Romantic and Relaxed

Brizy Tait, stylist and go-to wedding hair guru at Keep Austin Gorgeous Hair & Makeup in Austin, TX, says that bridal hair trends aren't what they used to be. Whether our client opts for an updo or a chignon or chooses to wear her hair long and loose the trend is moving away from super formal styles to more relaxed, romantic looks. “The modern bride does not want to be overdone—her style should look effortless," Brizy says, adding that a lot of women who come into her salon choose to wear their hair down with playful but polished waves. If it's pulled up, an easy-going braid adds a romantic touch. "The most important thing is that you make the true, natural beauty in your bride shine through," Brizy adds. Advice from Brizy: Once your bridal big day is booked, make sure to schedule at least two pre-wedding hair appointments —one to test out and fine-tune the style and another about a week prior to the wedding for a trim and/or color service.

WHAT TO DO "BEFORE A PHOTO SHOOT"

Makeup, hairstyling and sculpted eyebrows are essential to a great photo shoot.

Regardless wether the bride, sister or close friend knows how to do makeup, I always suggest working with a makeup artist (MUA). Makeup for a shoot and street makeup are very different looks. That’s why at Keep Austin Gorgeous we specialize in bridal and editorial looks. And it’s also why our makeup applications will look dramatic when the lights hit them and they are captured on film or digitally.

A Bride is not any different that a model. If you want great images then it’s worth a little extra time to look flawless, because at the end you only have those images to remember your big day.

MODEL SECRETS

Make time for a professional eyebrow wax before your trial run and wedding day.

Get a quick facial for a natural glow, but avoid extractions before the shoot.

Have your hair colored and deep conditioned. Aim for soft, shiny hair - not frizzy or dull hair.

Prepare your hair as a blank canvas for that master piece. We recommend anti-gravity styling product that will give you hold and memory for those long after-hours moments :)

The key to thick beautiful luxurious lashes is always lots of well-positioned lashes.

85 lashes will give you great volume. If you don't have the time to stay for the 85 lashes application in the first session, you can come back after 2 weeks and build on the last application to get up to 85.

Parabens and Breast Cancer...

Parabens are the most commonly used preservative in personal care products. They are widely used in everything from shampoo to personal lubricants.

But first, let's back up a bit... exactly what is a paraben? The chemical name is Alkyl Hydroxy Benzoate Preservatives.

Should you change your personal care product habits?

Of course, you may want to just eliminate all skin care products that contain parabens and follow...

The "Precautionary Principle"

If you're still concerned about parabens and cancer, it's easy enough to avoid this controversial chemical. Read labels... look for ingredients such as ethylparaben, butylparaben, methylparaben, propylparaben, isopropyl and isobutylparaben, or parahydroxybenzoate. They all indicate the product contains this preservative.

At Keep Austin Gorgeous we carry a line free from parabens by Kevin.Murphy. The only hair care line that puts a seal on his products. We love Kevin.Murphy! He is a real stylists and not a cosmetics line trying to sell "natural" hair products!
