Romantic and Relaxed

Brizy Tait, stylist and go-to wedding hair guru at Keep Austin Gorgeous Hair & Makeup in Austin, TX, says that bridal hair trends aren't what they used to be. Whether our client opts for an updo or a chignon or chooses to wear her hair long and loose the trend is moving away from super formal styles to more relaxed, romantic looks. “The modern bride does not want to be overdone—her style should look effortless," Brizy says, adding that a lot of women who come into her salon choose to wear their hair down with playful but polished waves. If it's pulled up, an easy-going braid adds a romantic touch. "The most important thing is that you make the true, natural beauty in your bride shine through," Brizy adds. Advice from Brizy: Once your bridal big day is booked, make sure to schedule at least two pre-wedding hair appointments —one to test out and fine-tune the style and another about a week prior to the wedding for a trim and/or color service.

WHAT TO DO "BEFORE A PHOTO SHOOT"

Makeup, hairstyling and sculpted eyebrows are essential to a great photo shoot.

Regardless wether the bride, sister or close friend knows how to do makeup, I always suggest working with a makeup artist (MUA). Makeup for a shoot and street makeup are very different looks. That’s why at Keep Austin Gorgeous we specialize in bridal and editorial looks. And it’s also why our makeup applications will look dramatic when the lights hit them and they are captured on film or digitally.

A Bride is not any different that a model. If you want great images then it’s worth a little extra time to look flawless, because at the end you only have those images to remember your big day.

MODEL SECRETS

Make time for a professional eyebrow wax before your trial run and wedding day.

Get a quick facial for a natural glow, but avoid extractions before the shoot.

Have your hair colored and deep conditioned. Aim for soft, shiny hair - not frizzy or dull hair.

Prepare your hair as a blank canvas for that master piece. We recommend anti-gravity styling product that will give you hold and memory for those long after-hours moments :)
