The Easy Breezy Way to Cure Chapped Lips

Summer is just around the corner. The warm sun is giving me a good excuse to get that new bombshell bikini. The cool summer air is swirling my cute summer dress. But alas, there is just one thing that summer brings along that none of us like, chapped lips.

So what’s the best way we can keep our lips from becoming chapped for the summer ahead? Well, here is a fabulous tip for keeping your lips perfectly moisturized.

Apply a lip balm (at KAG we recommend Organic Mint Lip Balm, $8, 100% Natural lip balm concentrated with anti-aging vitamins and antioxidants to keep lips soft, moisturized and youthful), blot, then swipe on color. Also, avoid long-wear lipsticks, which can be drying and need to go on naked lips.

Here are some recipes from planetgreen.com that include everyday ingredients like yogurt, pumpkin and cinnamon, so you can glam yourself into a more beautiful, natural you!

1.Yogurt Face Mask
For a refreshing face mask, combine one cup of yogurt with one-half cup of honey and mix in one cup of blended cucumber. Leave this mixture on your face for 15 minutes, then remove. Tip: Even if the yogurt is a few days past the expiration, it is still okay to use.

2. Recycled Blush
Refill an old compact with a mixture of cinnamon and powdered white sugar (add as much or as little as you want to create the right shade). Then add a few drops of your favorite essential oils to bond the powders and create an organic blush that looks -- and smells -- fabulous.

3. Pumpkin Foot Scrub
Soften rough, dry feet by combining one-quarter cup cooked or canned pumpkin puree, one-quarter cup brown sugar, one tablespoon of almond oil (or olive oil or jojoba oil), one tablespoon ground coffee beans and the juice from one-half of a lemon. Mix all of the ingredients in a big bowl and then scrub your feet well. Rinse with warm water and pat dry. Bonus: Leftovers can be used in the shower on other body parts!

4. Sunflower Shaving Cream
Make your own shaving cream with just sunflower oil and glycerin soap. Here's how: In a double boiler, melt one-quarter cup of unscented glycerin soap and then stir in one-half teaspoon of sunflower oil. Move the mixture into a mug as soon as the glycerin chunks are melted (this formula will set quickly). When you want to shave, simply add water to the soap until a lather builds and use it the same way you would regular shaving cream.
